Baseball Cards and Memorabilia Auction Extravaganza

The spring auction by Huggins & Scott is a baseball memorabilia bonanza not to be missed. Featuring over 1,600 extraordinary lots, this event promises to delight collectors with a passion for the game’s history and iconic players.

At the centerpiece of this auction is the renowned T206 Sherry “Magie” error card, which stands as one of the ‘Big Four’ of the T206 series. This card boasts a printing error in the name of outfielder Sherry Magee, rendering it a highly sought-after treasure in the world of baseball card collecting. Alongside legends like Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, and Doyle NY Nat’l, the Magie card’s rarity and historical significance make it a standout piece for any serious collector.

Adding to the intrigue of the auction are three recently unearthed 1910 Baltimore News Orioles cards. Part of a rare schedule-card set predating the famous 1914 BN set that introduces Babe Ruth’s rookie card, these cards represent a significant discovery for enthusiasts seeking unique additions to their collections.

For those drawn to pre-war memorabilia, this auction offers a treasure trove of coveted cards. Standout pieces include a 1934 World Wide Gum Babe Ruth (PSA 3) and Lou Gehrig (SGC 3), an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Mike “King” Kelly (SGC 6), an 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward (PSA 6), and a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Honus Wagner (PSA 4). Each card tells a story of a bygone era, capturing the essence of baseball’s rich history.

The post-war collection is equally impressive, featuring gems like a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (PSA 3), a 1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie (PSA 2), Hank Aaron’s 1954 Topps rookie (PSA 6) and 1955 Topps (PSA 8), a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax (PSA 7), and a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie high number (PSA 4). Moreover, a 1961 Topps set with 524 autographed cards out of 572, coupled with signed memorabilia from baseball icons such as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente, will be up for grabs.

Bidding for these extraordinary pieces of baseball history is already underway, with the auction closing on Thursday, April 4, at 9 PM ET. This event presents a remarkable chance for collectors to acquire rare and exceptional memorabilia that encapsulates the timeless allure of America’s favorite pastime. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a newcomer to the hobby, the Huggins & Scott auction offers something special for every baseball enthusiast.
