Michael Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals Shorts Auction

Michael Jordan, the basketball legend, left an indelible mark on the NBA during his time with the Chicago Bulls. One of the most iconic moments in his career was during the 1998 NBA Finals, where he wore a pair of home white Bulls shorts that are now set to make waves in the auction world.

As Jordan’s final season with the Bulls, the 1998 NBA Finals holds a special place in basketball history. The Bulls faced off against the Utah Jazz, ultimately securing their sixth championship title since 1991. Jordan’s performance in the Finals was nothing short of spectacular, with the home white shorts in question being worn during Games 3, 4, and 5 at the United Center in Chicago.

These historic shorts, soon to be part of SCP’s Fall Premier Auction, have been authenticated and photo-matched to the games in Chicago by MeiGray and Sports Investors. Jordan’s standout performances of 24, 34, and 28 points in those games were crucial in the Bulls’ victories. Despite eventually losing Game 5, the Bulls clinched the series in Game 6 in Utah, making these shorts the last home trunks Jordan wore as a Bulls player.

The auction for these iconic shorts is set to commence on November 6 and will conclude on November 23. With a pre-auction estimate of $500,000, experts predict that these game-worn shorts could set a new record for basketball memorabilia. Jordan’s previous game-worn items have commanded staggering prices, with a jersey from Game 1 of the same Finals selling for $10 million and a collection of sneakers from the 1998 Finals fetching $8 million earlier this year.

As a significant piece of Jordan’s legacy with the Bulls, these shorts are poised to attract considerable attention from collectors and fans worldwide. The auction represents an opportunity to own a tangible piece of NBA history and a part of the enduring legacy of “His Airness.” Get ready to witness a bidding war for these iconic shorts that embody the greatness of Michael Jordan in his final championship run with the Chicago Bulls.
