Wheatland Auctions Presents Diverse Sports Memorabilia Collection in 2023

Wheatland Auctions, a renowned auction house based in Pennsylvania, has kicked off the year 2023 with a spectacular event showcasing a diverse collection of sports memorabilia. With nearly 500 lots up for grabs, this auction presents collectors and enthusiasts with a remarkable selection of vintage and modern cards, sealed high-end football products, and iconic memorabilia.

One of the highlights of this auction is the inclusion of twelve sealed cases of Panini’s high-end football products. These cases feature coveted editions such as 2018 Prizm Hobby, 2020 Prizm Jumbo, 2021 Flawless, and multiple years of National Treasures, Contenders Optic, Immaculate, Select, and Panini One. Modern sports card enthusiasts will find these sealed cases to be highly sought-after items in the football card collecting world.

The auction also boasts an impressive array of vintage cards, capturing the hearts of collectors. Notably, all four lower to mid-grade copies of Babe Ruth cards from the iconic 1933 Goudey set are available, along with one of the highest SGC graded 1922 E121 American Caramel Ruth cards. Fans of vintage baseball memorabilia will also be delighted to find the 1933 and 1934 Lou Gehrig cards, adding to the allure of the auction.

Basketball enthusiasts are not left behind, as the auction features five Michael Jordan rookie cards and two Jordan rookie stickers. Considering Jordan’s enduring legacy in the sport, these items hold significant value for collectors and fans alike.

In addition to the cards, the auction offers a variety of other noteworthy items. One highlight is the SGC 10 1986-87 Fleer Isiah Thomas rookie card, which would be a prized possession for any basketball card collector. Vintage baseball card enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of 1926 W512 cards of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, as well as partial sets of 1933, 1934 Goudey, 1934-36 Batter Up, and 1934-36 Diamond Stars. The collection also features single Diamond Stars cards showcasing legends like Mel Ott, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, and Hank Greenberg, further enhancing its depth and variety.

Beyond the cards, the auction offers an impressive array of memorabilia. Collectors will find single signed baseballs from historic figures like Pie Traynor, Frankie Frisch, Willie Mays, and a unique Thurman Munson signature on a Little League ball. Another highlight is the inclusion of a rare 1917 World Series Game 2 ticket, providing collectors with a tangible piece of baseball history.

Wheatland Auctions is well-known for its comprehensive offerings of complete and partial vintage sets and graded cards from the post-War era, and this event continues that tradition. Collectors have a unique opportunity to acquire pieces from a crucial period in sports history and add to their collections.

The auction runs through Sunday, February 18, providing enthusiasts and collectors ample time to explore and acquire their desired pieces of sports history. Whether interested in modern high-end football products, vintage baseball cards, or rare memorabilia, Wheatland Auctions’ first event of 2023 offers an enticing opportunity to delve into the world of sports collectibles.
