Robert Edward Auctions (REA) presents the May Encore auction, attracting sports enthusiasts and collectors alike with its impressive array of over 3,600 lots. From complete sets of 1950s baseball cards to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia, this event is a goldmine for anyone passionate about sports history and collecting.

Kicking off on a Thursday, the auction spans ten days, inviting bidders to explore a wide range of items that tell the story of baseball from its early beginnings to the present day. Among the standout lots are treasures like the T206 White Border Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card from 1909-1911, featuring a rare Uzit back, and an iconic Ty Cobb rookie card from the 1907 Wolverine News Postcard series.

Vintage baseball card enthusiasts will find themselves drawn to offerings such as the complete 1957 Topps Set and the nearly complete 1958 Topps set. The auction also boasts high-grade cards from the 1950s Bowman and Topps sets, showcasing rookie cards of legendary players like Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax. Additionally, collectors can partake in a complete set break of the iconic 1951 Bowman set, providing a unique opportunity to own a piece of baseball history.

In addition to baseball cards, the auction features valuable memorabilia pieces that add to its allure. These include a ticket stub from the historic 1957 NFL Championship Game and a 1920 Real Photo Postcard featuring the Harvard football team that participated in the Rose Bowl, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of sports history.

REA President Brian Dwyer is enthusiastic about the collection on offer, emphasizing the exceptional quality of the lots following the success of the spring sale, which garnered an impressive $15.4 million. Dwyer notes the strong interest from collectors and the premium nature of the items up for auction, setting the stage for an exciting event.

For those eager to participate, the auction runs until May 19 on the REA website, with starting bids set at $10 for each item. This event not only presents a prime opportunity for collectors to acquire rare and coveted sports memorabilia but also serves as a celebration of the enduring legacy and allure of sports collectibles.
