Costly Theft at Sports Collectors Convention

A thrilling and exciting event took a dark turn as a sports card dealer fell victim to a significant theft at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland. The unsuspecting dealer, hailing from New Jersey, found himself at a loss of approximately $275,000 in cash on the final day of the convention, which was held at the I-X Center.

The unfortunate incident unfolded as the 48-year-old dealer was in the midst of loading his SUV after the event wrapped up. It was revealed that the stolen amount of cash, plus two valuable iPads, had been securely stashed away inside a black briefcase within the vehicle. The dealer, under the impression that he had carefully locked his SUV, discovered the disappearance of the briefcase containing the large sum of money while he was momentarily away.

First District detectives from the Cleveland Police department provided insights into the case, sharing that the missing briefcase, which notably housed an air tag for tracking purposes, was fortunately recovered on the premises of the I-X Center. The ongoing investigation has prompted law enforcement officials to actively seek out two potential suspects who were observed making their exit from the vicinity in a distinct blue Honda Odyssey van.
