Rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error Cards Lead PWCC December Premier Auction

In the world of sports memorabilia, few items generate as much excitement as rare baseball cards, and the PWCC December Premier Auction is set to ignite the passions of collectors worldwide. Among the highlights of this highly anticipated event are two of the most coveted cards from the T206 set, known as the Big Four.

One standout card in the auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. With just 39 cards receiving a grade from SGC and an additional 21 graded by PSA, the rarity of the Plank card is unquestionable. Despite showing signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the value and desirability of the Plank card remain undeniable. This auction marks the fourth time this year a Plank card has been made available for purchase, following a February sale of an SGC 1 Plank card for $75,000 and an August sale of a PSA 2.5 variant for an impressive $168,000.

Joining the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry “Magie” error card, another prestigious item from the T206 set. This card, which features a misspelling of Sherry Magee’s last name, shares the spotlight with the iconic T206 Honus Wagner and the “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards as one of the most renowned rarities in the collection. Its inclusion in the auction is sure to attract the attention of passionate collectors eager to add this historic card to their collections.

While the T206 cards steal the spotlight, the auction also boasts an impressive array of Michael Jordan cards, paying tribute to the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Among the standout pieces are the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals card (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies card (#/50) graded PSA 8, and the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future card (#/72) graded PSA 9. Additionally, the auction features the 1984-85 Star Company XRC card, available in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades, further adding to the allure of the Jordan collection.

Not limited to baseball and basketball, the auction also includes modern hockey treasures that are sure to pique the interest of hockey enthusiasts. Notable among these is the 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA card (#/12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA card (#/99), both graded BGS 8. These sought-after cards offer collectors a chance to own a piece of hockey history and showcase the remarkable talent of two of the game’s brightest stars.

The PWCC December Premier Auction is already underway and is set to accept bids until December 21st. Collectors avidly waiting for a chance to own a piece of sports history will not want to miss this rare opportunity to add these highly coveted cards to their collections.
